Participants will create heads or masks to be hung on the wall. We will hand-build with terracotta to create faces that will then be assembled, carved, and decorated. Surface treatments will include colored slips, sgraffito, simple stencils, liquid wax with inlaid underglazes, and glazing techniques. Sketches or images of what students want to make are encouraged but not required. Open to all skill levels but, most importantly, we are going to have a great time making things together!

Benjie Heu is Professor of Ceramics at Southeast Missouri State University.
