This class teaches the basics of mosaic art. With those basics, we will have the opportunity to create sculptural garden spheres using a variety of materials including stained glass, found glass, vitreous glass tile, common tile, pebbles and other found objects. Bring your treasures to use.

Martha Williams has been working with glass for over 30 years. A teenage urge to study stained glass led to post-graduate study in hot glass. Williams became an accomplished production glassblower and award-winning glass artist. Five years ago she added flameworking to her glassworking credentials. She currently operates a flameworking studio in Provincetown, MA.

You bring willing hands and an open mind and I will help you experience the magic of transforming wool fiber into felted fabric. The door is open then to a world of discovery, invention and expression with color, pattern, texture and shape. The class will focus on two dimensional processes and introduce concepts for further exploration in three dimensions using an ancient technique that predates weaving and knitting. This class is for adults and teens.

Kathy Jackson lives in Santa Cruz, California where she has taught felting and assisted in handwork classes at the Waldorf School. Her interest in and practice of fiber arts is of long standing. She is also active in the music community in Santa Cruz as a cellist--with the Cabrillo Community Orchestra--and as a teacher of piano and cello. She holds a B.A. degree in Studio Art from Yale University.

This alternative mosaic making class will introduce the student to the process of photo etching on glass using sandblasting where photos, text or designs can be etched. We will then produce a mosaic window using our photo-etched glass, stained glass, crystals, minerals and other light rendering components which students are encouraged to bring. A light activated adhesive will be used to assemble the mosaic. Fast paced and FUN!

Dennis Peabody is a Hartford based artist who has experimented and expressed himself with glass for over 25 years. An early user of dichroic glasses, Dennis has produced a popular line of dichroic glass jewelry for 15 years.
