Students will use mixed media with pencil, crayon, and acrylic paint to create an original still life. They will learn basic color theory to produce tints and shade.  We will explore nature on the grounds, collecting objects from outdoors.  Found objects will become part of the composition for a still life.  Step-by-step directions and examples will be provided to guide students through the process.  

All materials will be provided. This workshop will take place at Castle Hill’s Main Campus: 10 Meetinghouse Road, Truro.

Tammy Friedman is an artist who lives and works in Stratford, Connecticut and North Truro.  Recently retired and focused on painting with oils, she has taken classes at PAAM  with Steven Wells and at The Cape School of Art with Mary Giammarino and Sydney Hale.  Born and raised on the Cape, she has spent much of her time exploring and admiring the quaint towns, lighthouses, sea life, and peaceful places on the Cape which have been inspirational. Tammy has worked with many artists to explore a variety of mediums. Before embracing oil paints, she studied pottery for six years with Morty Bachar and Jon Puzzuoli, she then traveled to Barcelona to study “trencadis'' with artist Martin Brown. Tammy has also studied in Vermont: Portraits with Bill Ramage,  Folk art with Warren Kimble and watercolor painting with Tom Lynch. Other art genres studied are working with oil pastels, and watercolor painting with Timothy Edward Easton-Koch “Teek” of Connecticut. Tammy has worked as a full time teacher in Stamford, CT for 30 years. Her art studies have spanned 40 years and include: PAAM, Cape School of Art, Aldrich Museum, Ridgefield Guild of Art, Barcelona, Silvermine School of Art, Lakeside Pottery, University of Connecticut, Castleton University,Vermont.
