Start the summer by creating a Garden Art Peace Pole! Students will paint and design a 4 foot wooden pole that can be installed in the garden when done. The design will include favorite words, quotes, or wishes for peace. It can also reflect the students interests - whether it be animals, flowers, sports teams, or summer activities.  After painting the pole their favorite colors, students will use brushes, stencils, stamps, and paint pens to add their designs. The pole will be sealed when done so that it will last for many years outside.

Kim Palmer has a Masters degree in Creative Arts & Learning from Lesley College and taught art for 34 years at the Kenneth C. Coombs School in Mashpee. She developed an Artist in Residence Program, funded by grants, that enabled local artists to work in collaboration with students to create many beautiful murals. An ISTE conference inspired her love of integrating art and technology. Kim has presented several times with students at MassCUE and the Inspired Learning Convention on using robots in the art room. Her focus is to introduce students to different techniques and inspire them to “create bravely”.
