Procreate is an extensive drawing tool for the iPad. It can be used in conjunction with other apps or as a stand-alone. This workshop will introduce all the basic elements of working with Procreate, giving you some creative freedom with your iPad, from creating a document to drawing, layering, and enhancing your images in Procreate. It will cover the use of design tools, color palettes, brushes, and layers. We will import our own photos and work on images with various tools to enhance and/or collage images. (Or you may work abstractly using the tools at hand.) You should come with images on your camera roll for subject matter. Photos of background and collage material, such as old painted surfaces or textures and fabrics will enhance our work. (Some can be provided.)

In preparation, please purchase and upload Procreate from the App Store to your iPad; there is a nominal fee for the app. Be sure your iPad is fully charged. (This class is not appropriate for an iPhone)

Catherine Caddigan is an award-winning artist, who received her MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a concentration in photography and nontraditional imaging. She has shown her work nationally and internationally. Concentrating on “digital devices” she manipulates, collages, draws and layers her images, following a path of discovery to the end result. She collects the ephemera of her life on her camera roll, then works in a collage manner on her iPad.
