Open studio: Mon - Thurs, 1-4pm

In this course students will be guided, through technique, to build their skills on the wheel, such as throwing rounder, thinner, taller, and wider.  Class will also focus on addressing their forms’ presence and function through surface to create textured decoration and attachments that extend their functionality. Along with daily demonstrations and one-on-one instruction, students will be encouraged to work playfully and think less about the product and more about the process. The work made in this class is for the personal archive of each student to reflect on, as they move through their own journey in throwing on the wheel.   This course is open to all levels.

Rachel Dubicki is a New York native and studio potter. After receiving her BFA from Alfred University in 2015, she went on to become the 2016 Chili Bowl Workspace Artist in Residence at Women’s Studio Workshop, in Rosendale, NY.  From there, she spent several years cultivating her own studio practice, which resulted in a gallery exhibition at Saratoga Clay Arts Center in 2017, working with local artists, and years of vending at craft markets. In winter of 2023, Rachel left NY to be an AIR at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill and returned to Castle Hill as their Summer Ceramic Studio Manager.  Rachel is now living in Worcester, MA as one of Worcester Center for Craft’s 2023/24 AIRs where she is teaching, providing studio support and continuing her journey in her own studio practice.
