Mixed media may include acrylic paints, graphite, pastels, crayons, ink markers, any water-based materials. You can work on canvas board, paper, matte board, old books, any firm surface that will take paints and adhesives. Examples will be shown. Participants will create a unique piece of art.This workshop will bring together a variety of mixed media including collage, embellishing and paper craft, plus we will have a science project: “staining” paper to use in your collage.
All materials will be provided. This workshop takes place at Castle Hill’s Main Campus, 10 Meetinghouse Road, Truro.
Michael A. Giaquinto, former Exhibitions Curator at the Cape Cod Museum of Art. He studied art at Montserrat College of Art, Beverly, MA. & North Carolina State University, where he studied Art History. Michael was awarded “Craftsman of the Year” by the Early American Life Magazine in 2001 and 2005 and in 2017 the VISI Award, presented by Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators Association; and was guest speaker and held a painting demonstration for the Guild of Harwich Artists, 2017. Cape Cod Museum of Art Muse Artist Award - 2023. His work has been exhibited with Berta Walker Gallery, Provincetown, MA; Chabot Fine Art Gallery, Providence, RI; Miller White Fine Arts, South Dennis, MA and AMZehnder Gallery, Wellfleet, MA. Michael has taught and held workshops at the Creative Arts Center, DeCordova Museum & Sculpture Park, Weny Education Center at CCMOA, Falmouth Art Center, and the Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill. He is featured in Deborah Forman’s book, Contemporary Cape Cod Artists on Abstraction.
