We are thinking outside the standard clay lamp here! Let’s explore how to illuminate a clay vessel’s interior spaces, so adding light (candle, bulb, fairy lights, etc) can fill both its inner space and illuminate out into the room. (Don’t know about you but I am craving calm mood lighting in my home for the next several years.) We can work like engineers and architects, as the openings size and shape and angle shift the light quality inside and outside itself. I sometimes use paper to explore ideas first, or just rough construct clay slabs, “sketching” out ideas. This is the main goal, to play and have fun exploring together as we add another material to our work…light!
