Silkscreen has a long history in the world of t-shirts, signs, and posters. It is wonderful for all these applications as well as fine art. In this introductory silkscreen workshop, we will explore a variety of ways to apply hand cut or drawn imagery to screens. We will use hand cut stencils, screen filler, and tape to create imagery. All these techniques can be combined or used on their own to create multi-color prints. We will talk about how to create an edition of identical prints as well as how to use the screens we create to make a series of prints that are variations on a theme. Demonstrations will cover basic printing, applying stencils to a screen, taping, registration for precise multi-layer prints, and printing on fabric and alternative materials. Come ready to explore!
