Learn to compose your own exclusively natural fragrance with guidance from a French-trained perfumer. Amanda Ménage will take you on a scented journey through the ages, drawing inspiration from the Slow Scent® method developed by Mandy Aftel. Following an introduction to perfume history and a discussion of extraction methods for aromatic plants, you’ll explore a selection of top, middle, and base notes from the perfumer’s palette of genuine botanical extracts. You’ll choose your favorite ingredients and acquire the skills to determine which proportions will result in a balanced, structured fragrance. The 15 ml bottle of eau de parfum you make during the class is yours to take home. A list of suppliers will be provided, allowing you to purchase more extracts if you wish to continue experimenting or intend to make refills for what just may become your new signature scent.

Amanda Ménage is a French-trained perfumer specializing in 100% natural fragrance composition. She studied at a school of perfumery in Grasse, France, and enjoyed guidance from two renowned perfumers: Nicolas de Barry and Mandy Aftel. Amanda grew up in Utah and frequently spent summers on the Cape. She now lives with her family in Brittany, where she teaches perfume workshops and crafts bespoke scents for private clients. Her collection of cellar-aged, estate-bottled grand cru fragrances will soon be released by Pandar Parfums.
