This workshop will introduce students to the fundamentals of working and creating artworks with cast concrete. Students will develop skills in mold making and inlay assembly. Through simple and direct techniques, students will create and execute small and larger cast concrete artworks. Finishing, staining, and sealing will be explored as well. Assistance will be available in class to help make your art. Artworks created will be able to enhance your garden or home upon course completion.
Tom O’Connell is a Wellfleet based artist. Working in multiple materials, Tom is focused on creating Art in 2 and 3 dimensions. His ever expanding art garden in a Wellfleet marsh is a passion. He has completed numerous commissions using concrete. These have included fountains for restaurants and botanical garden, custom countertops for kitchens, public art in Boston, and gallery works in Provincetown and beyond. Tom has taught his course at Castle Hill many times and enjoys teaching and helping students create.
