June 23 - 27

5 sessions

If you only had five minutes to tell your story, what would you say? In this workshop each participant will write, workshop and on the final day, stage a five minute play at a performance open to the public. Practicing within this short limit helps us to get to the juice quickly, and restraints can be the best teachers. This workshop is a chance to be silly, to be serious, to be dramatic, to be chicly austere but mostly it is a chance to play. We will spend five days writing with each other, reading the works and rehearsing our plays.

The workshop will focus on daily practice as the core of sustainable writing and on the collaborative process of group readings and rehearsals. Each participant’s Five Minute Play can act as a seed for a larger piece, or stand alone as a sketch in its own right.  A laptop is strongly suggested as we will be continuously editing the plays. All writing levels are welcome.
