Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill is excited to present Postcards From The Front, an exhibition of work by Michael David and Brenda Goodman. The exhibition will be up from August 28 – September 7. There will be an opening reception on August 30 from 4-6pm on the back deck at Castle Hill 10 Meetinghouse Road, Truro and a closing reception on September 6 from 4-6pm on the back deck at Castle Hill. 
Both are free and open to the pubic.

Michael David, born Michael David Singer; born September 22, 1954, is an American painter. Born in Reno, Nevada, David's family relocated to Brooklyn, New York, where he was raised. He attended SUNY Fredonia for one year and in 1976 received a B.F.A. from Parson's School of Design. David is classified as an abstract painter, best known for his use of the encaustic technique, which incorporates pigment with heated beeswax. He is also known for his works in mixed-media figure painting, photography and environmental sculpture. His work is included in the permanent public collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, the Jewish Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among others.

Brenda Goodman

Brenda Goodman

Brenda Goodman was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1943. She studied at the College for Creative Studies.  After a number of successful shows in Detroit,  moved in 1976 to New York City and was included in the Whitney Biennial in 1979. Since 1973 she has had 38 one-person shows and has been included in over 200 group shows in galleries and museums throughout the United States, including Edward Thorp Gallery, Nielsen Gallery, David&Schweitzer Contemporary, and Jeff Bailey Gallery. Her work has been reviewed in many publications, including Art in America, New Yorker, Brooklyn Rail, Detroit Free Press, and Huffington Post and is included in a number of collections such as Agnes Gund, Santa Barbara Museum, and Detroit Institute of the Arts. She received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts. In 2015, and was included in the American Academy of Arts and Letters annual invitational and received an Award in Art. In May 2017, received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from my alma mater. Since 2009, she has lived and worked in the Catskill Mountains.
