Castle Hill Annual (FREE) Community Summer Bash at
Edgewood Farm on July 20
Truro, MA – The Truro Center for the Arts invites the entire community to celebrate summer at this year’s annual Castle Hill Bash, scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 20 at Edgewood Farm, 3 Edgewood Way, Truro from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. FREE! We will be honoring Jane Bunker & Mason Morfit, as well as the Truro Community Preservation Committee (CPC). During each of our Summer Parties, we feel it's important to thank people in the Community that make a difference to us at Castle Hill and also to the broader Community. Jane Bunker and Mason Morfit have been great supporters to Castle Hill through not only a John P Bunker lecture Series in honor of their father, but a new deal is happening this fall, where Castle Hill will be taking over & stewarding the Bunker Cottage on Corn Hill Beach in partnership with the Truro Conservation Trust. This very special Cottage / Boat house, which use to be part of the Truro railroad. Castle Hill will manage and offer housing to artists working at Castle Hill, as well as an artist residency program which we began a few years ago with the purchase of Edgewood Farm.
The other honored guests will be Deborah McCutcheon & Mary Rose, the chairs of the Community Preservation Act Funds who have supported Castle Hill in the renovation of the 3 historic Buildings at Edgewood Farm! Without the continued support we wouldn't have been able to all the work we did on the buildings. We have protected the property and the buildings so they can never be demolished, through a Historical Deed Restriction with the State.
"We are so excited about the Bunker Cottage to protect that piece of land from every being built upon and to keep that historical landmark alive", said Cherie Mittenthal, the Executive Artistic Director, she also mentioned that the "Truro Community Preservation Fund have been amazing in recommending funding for us for many years! These dollars helped us leverage additional funds and we are so excited to showcase all the work we have done at Edgewood Farm!"
A free community celebration, this year’s Bash features dancing to live music from blues group Steve Morgan and the Kingfish and delicious food and drinks including raw oysters from Slurp Up. Attendees will spend a quintessential Cape Cod July night mingling with Castle Hill’s community of artists as well as staff, board and art lovers at the beautiful Edgewood Farm, the home of Castle Hill’s Artist Residency Program adjacent to the Cape Cod National Seashore and town conservation land.
The Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill has served a single purpose for 48 years: to create an inclusive and supportive arts community by providing a wide range of artistic experiences to students at all levels of ability. Energized by a faculty of distinguished artists and writers and enlivened by a welcoming and engaging community, Castle Hill offers workshops, lectures, exhibitions, performances, special events and artist residencies. Located in an exquisitely beautiful rural setting, Castle Hill provides unique and inspiring learning experiences to all who come here.
“The Bash is one of our most popular summer events,” says Cherie Mittenthal, Castle Hill’s Executive Artistic Director. “It’s a perfect opportunity to have fun, relax, and enjoy the best that summer on the Cape has to offer.”
