Virtual Push/Pull: Shabott + Barrett + Students

This exhibit includes paintings, works on paper, board or panel that embody the mid century principles of composition, shape, line and form and the group’s response to it. Part class, part partners in art, part art movement, Virtual Push/Pull Shabott + Barrett + Students shows the commitment and passion of a group of artists working together in a digital space.

Shabott and Barrett, ages 64 and 23 respectively, teach art with a fresh spin on the principles of modern painting from 1913 Armory Show to the Abstract Expressionist movement. Their courses are a lively mix of exercises, demonstrations, artist presentations and critiques.

The show displays work by Anne Doolittle, Anne Mai, Anne Webb-Johnson, Betsy Higgins-Steele, Carol Krieger, Christine Niles, Claire Chaffee, Damon Katz, Ginger Ocelot, Janet Hymowitz, Jo Harrison, Joanne Barrett, John Koch, Laura Frader, Maeve O’Donovan, Mary Ann O’Loughlin, Mary Fox, Patricia Hardie, Patricia Palmer and Portia Durbin.

This show is also displayed in the gallery at Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill at 10 Meetinghouse Road and will be up until July 9.
