This 5-day workshop will focus on hand-building techniques for building complex animal forms, including free-standing, four-legged creatures. We’ll try various methods of hand-building, determined by the goals of each student. Hannah will demonstrate slab-building large animals using external and internal support systems, among other strategies. In addition to the hand-building techniques covered, the workshop will investigate surface decoration. We’ll explore how patterns can be added using printed or stenciled slabs, incising and inlaying color, paper transfer printing and more.
