Paper and wax were made for each other!
We will dip heavy paper in vats of beeswax multiple times, letting it cool in between layers so that it builds up like a dipped candle. This heavy paper will become rigid with wax when dipped and will be opaque. Edges are usually beautifully irregular and the surfaces of these object-like substrates are excellent for painting, transfers, oil paint sticks, carbon based media (graphite and ink), and most encaustic painting techniques. Paula will show how this method can apply to dipping paper or small objects used for sculptural components as well!
